Nurturing the missionary spirit through prayer, faith formation and education
Prayer is at the centre of all our work. For many struggling communities overseas, and the missionaries working there, knowing that people in Ireland are praying for them, brings them hope. Not only do we ask people to pray for the missions overseas, but we also ask them to explore and develop their own understanding of mission.
We strive to create a vibrant missionary community where we encourage those already engaged in the work of the Church at home in Ireland to support the work of the Church overseas. This is achieved through our work in schools, parishes, and with our Mission Teams.
Throughout the year, and especially during Mission Month (October), Masses, exhibitions, and events promote and spread awareness of the vital work that missionaries are doing overseas. Missio Ireland also provides the opportunity for parishes and individuals to access programmes and resources for further mission development.
